Freedom Festival! at the Cozad Bates House

Restore Cleveland Hope and the Extended Family will be displaying AAQDG Underground Railroad Quilts and telling the stories of the symbolism they carry.

There will be a performance of the dramatic story of Sara Lucy Bagby who escaped from Virginia and came to Cleveland via the UGRR. In a bitterly divided country Bagby was the last fugitive in the U.S.to be returned to the south before the outbreak of the Civil War. You will also learn about Cyrus Ford who was an active abolitionist in what is now University Circle . Actor Robin Pease will sing and take the roll of Bagby, Cyrus Ford will be played by Kevin Cronin.
